Not ever to rhyme i OJt a " dove " and a " love," . - Nor of silken dresses and raven tresses, Nor of eyes that sparkle like .stars above; But to thunder out, With a rinf? and a shout. < , • The birth of lovo and the death of doubt Not failing and wailing, and ever nailing > < ' A God.to a tree, - . But a spirit raising, praising and praising . The Power that keepeth you and inc. 1 Not clashing our themes with beautiful dreams 'Till lite is o'er; But an anthem ringing and singing and singing Love to the Father tor evermore. .- Not pining and chiming and ever "rhyming When nights arc lon«; „ But a glorined prayer for our Father's care Should bo for ever the poet's song. Not ever to rhyme Of a " dove " and a " love," Nor of idols of silver, nor thrones of gold, Nor of men that lied in the days of old; But to thunder out, j. With a ring and a shout, The reign of Love in the Father's i'old!
