' This aboVe all — to thine own self bo tru*, And it must follow as the night the day Thou cauet not then be false to any man.' Shakespeare.

SATURDAY, JULY 20. 1889.

We are very pleased to know that our respected fellow townsman, Mr F. Pavitt, Ins received his diploma as an 'Authorised Surveyor' from the Surveyor General. The petition to have Te Aroha and Waiorongomai (including the goldfield and County tramway), constituted a Borough, has been taken round Te Aroha for signature during tho past couple of days. At Te Aroha some of the Borough agitators deny that it was stated at Waiorongomai on Saturday night there were to j be two wards, so that Waiorongom&i j would have the expending of its own j revenue. We understand as a matter of fact there is nothing about two wai'ds in j the petition. • \ Mr James Craig, auctioneer, reports the sale of the leasehold know as the " Hori More" Block, adjoining the Te Aroha township, on either Hide of the Te ArohaWaioiongomai main rood (about3oo acres) to Messrs 11. 11.
