LAW OF LIBEL.
Speaking about the parsing of the Law of Libel Bill through the Upper House and its introduction in the Lower the "Post" says:— "The Bill confers no new powers or privileges, but simply places New Zealand journalists in the same position as their brethren at Home occupy. The press of this colony owes its thanks to the Government for introducing, and to the Council for passing:, this most just, equitable, and useful measure, and we have no doubt whatever that the House of Representatives will equally earn the gratitude of both the press and the public by doing its part and passing the Bill into law as speedily a? possible."
