ADULTERY CLAIMED.
Addressing the lady he said, " Mrs Robinson, you have been here before ; these matters are not at issue now, you must contine your?elf to what is in the petition." " J can prove adultery. Shall I prove it now ?" " Call your witnesses." William Barker, steward on the steamer Drummond Castle, entered the box, and gaid that on May 10th, 1884, a gentleman and lady, under the names of Mr and Mrs Robinson, took passage on the steamer at Lisbon for England. They occupied the same cabin, passed the time in each other's company, and gave the passengers to understand that they were man and wife. [Here Mrs Robinson handed the witness a photograph of her husband, which the steward identified as representing the Robinson of whom he had been speaking.] f,' Do you know that he lived with the lady during the voyage ?" asked 'the Jus tice. '• Yes, I attended on him myself." -The next witness, Jane Shin^leton, the stewardess of the same ship, corroborated the testimony of the steward. She knew Mr Robinson, and recollected his coming on board and taking passage home from Lisbon. She identified the photograph as beiag a good -picture of the man.
