MINISTERIAL RUPTURE.

Speaking of the Fisher- Atkinson correspondence, the " Post" says : " The Premier has the grace to be asnamed of the bibber correspondence to which he was a party in connection with the late Minisbeiial rupture. He should, however, have counted the cost and calculated the consequences befoi-e he began it. It was altogether too late last night for him to express his reerets, and his attempts to b'urk the full publication very pioperly proved abortive. As it was the printed copy which 1)8 laid on the table, there was really no reason for his objecting to the formal order that it should be printed. The objection urged was that this would make it a permanent record, but all documents laid on the table aie public records, and as to its being found in appendices to the journal of the House, he need not, wo think, fear that future generations will take the trouble to wade through its dreary pages. Some fufcuie constitutional writer may possibly alludo to the case as a warning to politicians, what to avoid doing ; but that is all the interest likely to attach hereafter to the episode." The general feeling among the members is that the correspondence is not creditable to either party, and it had now better be dropped. The reason why many members voted on Wednesday for its being sent to the Printing Committee was so that Mr Fisher should not have any reason to say that he did not receive fair play.
