[From Our Own Correspondent.]

Waiorongomai, Monday. General : Footpaths : Mr Orrmaiiu n start with this work on Monday last, but the weather has been very unfavourable for carrying on work, especially in the early part of last week. We aro now having some frost, which necessarily means fine weather, and if it holds for a few days longer, the work of spreading the gravel will be proceeded with, The people of Waiorongomni are certainly to be congratulated, and should be grateful to the County authorities, as I understand the County Council, at their meetiing on Saturday last, granted £15 for ,the improvement of Grey street. The lower track is also to be cleared, the | Council accepting Mr Emetts offer to remove the slip for £10 ; also to keep the road in good order for a further sum of £10 for a space of 3 months. j Mr Adams' .Flax Mill : I am in* f3nned that this mill, started work to-day. In speaking to a gentleman to-day of this venture, he remarked that there was a fortune in it, taking at a iough estimate the cost of preparing the flax for market at £10 per ton including freight, Auckland price £20, 3 tons a we-k, £60 ; cost, £30 ; profit, £30. Big thing for a local industry. 1 wish him all the success he deserves. Football : Combined Team v, Katikati : This match, which has been the chief topic of interest here during the past

fortnight, eventuated on Saturday last,, and resulted in a most complete and decisive victory for the WaiorongwnaiTV Aroha combined. , The Katikatiiins arrived about 2.30 p.m., ami after paying a visit to the Te Aroha S. and G. M. Company's reduction works repaired to the football ground (Mr Janseu's paddock, kindly lent for tho occasion) for a little practice. Play commenced at 4 p.m, by which time there were a goodly number uf spectators, Te Aroha beintj well represented. Before play had in a measure fairly commenced the combined team secured two tries, but the place kick on both occasions failed to increase the score
