The Fire and Marine Insurance Companies Act. introduced into the Council by the Hon. Mr Stevens, and which passed all its stages this afternoon, provides that a Fire and Marine Insurance Company may bo registered under the Companios Act with limited liability if it has a capital o£ £50, 000 intact ; meaning 1 thereby, paid up capital clear of all demands then actually due or pending. If the balance-sheet of the Company shows less capital, the same to be made up to the required amount, if the directors are liable for the debts of the Company. There are other clauses dealing ■with registration, etc.
