NORTH ISLAND TRUNK RAILWAY. MEETING OF AUCKLAND AND TAR ANA KI MEMBERS. Wellington, July 1.
A meeting of the Auckland and Taranak members interested in the N,qrth It-land Trunk Railway was held this' morning, Sir George Grey in the chair. There were present: Messrs. Whyte, Moss, Fraser, Jackson, Cadman, R. Thompson, T. Thompson, Goldie, Withy, Moab, Kelly, Monk, Marchant, Samuel. After some discussion the following resolutions were unanimously cirried. 1. That in the opinion of this meeting no further outlay should take place at the Marton end of the proposed North Island Trunk Railway. 2. That the Jine should be at ones completed from the Mokau River to the Porotorua Tunnel. 3. That a deputation consisting of Sir George Gre.^, Messrs Marchant, Jackson, Goldie, Fraser, SamUel, and any others so inclined should wait upon the Premier to present the above resolutions, and report to an adjourned meeting. Sir George Grey is now making arrangements for the deputation meeting the I'remiet.
