"It is very satisfactory to be able to note in this connection that the»e was a remarkable concensus of opinion as to the merits of the exhibits, often amounting to unanimity , and this even when the members were blinded, A\hich was frequently done. Many of the ales of all kinds were very fine, and those which weie' off ' weie such as were very unlikely to have taken a place in any case ; in fact, the suiviv.-'J of the fittest has been effected by natural selection."
