It remains to be seen, however, whether Mr Gunthorp will be allowed ■to enjoy his bloodless victory in peace. Surely some of the many draught players' in this city wjll challenge the new champion and test his ability to maintain that position. * Steps are now being taken to inaugurate a draught contest in Auckland for a trophy. The idea is to have a series' of games and see what our players are made of. The manner in which the draught boards are'utilised at the Free' Library shows how many people there are who enjoy a quiet game of checkers. \" '
