A telegram from Paeroa states that Mr J H. Moore, manager of the Maritoto Gold Mining Co., lias just had several excellent returns from samples of ore in this mine assayed by Mr Charles Rhodes, of Paeroa. The first test was a piece of specimen stuff taken out on Saturday, assaying 71oz8 lOdwts 19grs gold and 4,4020zs 6dwts llgrs silver valued at £946 6s per ton. No. 2 was an assay of picked dirt, returning at the rate of 24ozs lOdwfcs of gold and 1,5680zs silver, valued at £333 4s 3d per ton. No. 3 was a fair test of the general dirt, of which about 100 tons is to grass, the return from this being at the rate of 2ozs 15dwts 12grs gold, and 117ozs 12dwts silver, valued at £28 11s per ton.
