THB SUGAR MARKET. ANOTHER RISE ANTICIPATED. Dunedin, June 20.
The local sugar market has nob been so excited' for many years as ifc is at present, and great interest was taken in the sale of a portion of the cargo of sugar ex Dartagnon. There was a very large attendance of the trade, and bidding throughout was brisk. The entire cargo was submitted, and sold at the following prices (in bond) :, — Finest grey crystal, £36 to £36 5s ; fine to finest whites, up to £36 15s. A few lines of browers' crystals 'ex Lorna Doone were quitted at from £33 10s to £34 10s. A fortnight ago sugar sold' here by auction from £22 to £24 10s. Those who understand .the pulsations of the sugar market say that prices .will yet go- higher, osving to the scarcity^ of the article. It is stated that consignees of ,the Dartagnon's cargo nebbed a profit pf £3,000, •
