A RIDE TO THE COAST OFF HELENSVILLE.

An autumn morn with sapphire-shining skies ; And air faint-shimmering m the golden light, And gentlest cales that waft in glad surprise The breath of ocean near, yet hid from sight. Fair is the scene ; and fair it is to see This group of merry riders to the coast. The very steed seemed con ciousof the glee— The healthful glee that hath each heart engrossid, A graceful girl, serge-habited, with veil Of light-blue gauze that flutters in the breeze, And sparkling eyes that can the heart assail vv iih love's best witcheries and coy decrees ; On, on they sneed past paddock, bush and plain And vasty sand-hills to the boundless main. A. W.HUKKY. Auckland, June 11th, 1889.
