The machinery -is now all on <he ground *4ind in the battery ; the foundations require J for the new plant have been completed, and a start has been made to erect the plant itself. Mr Howtand has supplied the necessary timbi r for six new h\unw.iy tiuuks, and six new mine tiucks, and these will be finished and ready for use within a. fortnight. The timber is rather wet' for working yet, in connection with making the tanks, the rest of the plant will probably be ready in about six weeks or two months. Te Aroha S. and G.M. Co.: There is now plenty of water for motive power, and thirty head of stampers (and Frue concentrators in connection therewith), are being kept steadily at work night and day, reducing ore from the New Find portion of tho Company's ground ; und another fiye head of stampers will be started early next week. The tramway is now regularly employed conveying quartz to tho Battery. Tho Boss pan plant is now regularly kept going (and is working splendidly), also twenty-two berdans on old tailings ; but Mr Ho well purposes putting the Boss pan plant on silver ore tailings next week. Xhe furnaces are not working just now, all tlie tailings roquiro'.l for the present having been put through. The ejection of the new twenty head of stampers is rapidly progressing. The stamper beds and boxe3 are now in position . The ciivular saw is working every day, cutting timber requiied for the completion of the new 20 head stamper battery referred to, and also for tho sampling rooms. The hands employed prospecting, north of summit of the ranges, aie now trenching from the Waitawheta creek, with a view of cross cutting the main Wai )rongoraai reef ; but the work progresses rather slowly, owing to the amount of bush and undergrowth, the debris and su'face boing 12ft. to 20ft. deep in many places.
Ferguson Syndicate: The following tenders were received for driving lOOffc in the Premier upper lovel ; D. K. Youny:, 35? per foot ; John Sh-»ti and party, 31s ; Grace and party (accepted), 3()s. Both main and 1 -ranch water races have been repaired and water turned on. A i ram way has been laid down, with new stpol rails, through the Inverness low level ; and in driving on the ivof sown well miiwnlHpl stone is coming to hand.
