CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. Thames, June 13.

A cask of some importance was called on at the Warden's Court to-day, being that of William Hosking, a minor of the Caledonian Gold Mining Company. On the 26th March last complainant was engaged about descending a shaft in a cage which it is contended was not constructed in accordance with the Mining Act, and that the shaft was also defective. Inconsequence his right hand was bruised and lacerated, and his middle finger had to be amputated. He claims £375 damages. The case was adjourned until the 271h inst.
