CHELSEA SUGAR WORKS. BUSINESS REMARKABLY BRISK. Auckland, June 13.
Notwithstanding the large advance that has been made in the prices of sugar within the last lew months, the local branch of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company seem to be doing a very large exporb trade. At the Chelsea Sugar Works, indeed, there is apparently pore work being done, and more shipping, than at the rest of our wharves combined, and, what is of more importance still, this state of things is very often noticeable. The barque Rollo has just completed the discharge of about 1,300 tons of raw sugar. The steamer Fiona is taking in ; about 1,000 tons sugar and molasses", which is being shipped by the Company to Sydney. The barque Madura is discharging coal. The s.a. Australia is loading and will take away about 120 t«ns sugar for Southern ports. The s.a, Waihora is discharging coal, and is also taking on board a quantity of sugar for ths South. This fleet of steamers and sailing vessels, along with smaller, craft, such as the ferry steamer,, the Sugar Company's barge, the s.s. Kotuku, and the s.s. Scotchman, made business at Chelsea exceedingly brisk, and kept all hands hard at work. >
