SELF-DESTRUCTION. Christchurch, June 12.

An elderly man named Reid, living in North Christchurch alone, died this morning from a wound in the throat, presumed to be self-inflicted. He called out to neighbours that he had cut his throat, recommending them to send for the police. They did so. Constable Scott tound Reid lying in a pool of blood from a wound looking as if made yesterday. They removed him to the hospital, but ho died on the way.
