Messrs Hunter and Weekly Report. — For strain, horsefeed, seeds, etc , a ' steady demand has existed, and theie has been j no over-suppiv, eonsequentiy prices liavenof altered materially. We quote Feed oats tiom 2s lOd to 3s 3d per bnsV el : maize, 5s to 3s 6d per oushel ; bran. £6 per ton ; chaff, £3 to £3 10s ; cocksfoot. 4s per bushel ; rye grass, 3 s . to 4s 6d. Horses: The number brought forward has been sufficient for requirements, and they met a j steady demand without much alteration in values. An increased number were entered at the Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding at the opening of the sa'e was fairly brisk, but slackened as the sale proceeded. Almost all the lots were cleared. We quote Hacks, £5 10s to £10 ; light harness horses. £5 to £12 10s. Wool, hides, and skins : Increased quantities were brought forward at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and j the demand was spirited. We q"ote Ox hides, 3^d to s}d per lb : cow, 2}d to 3Jd; calfskins, 3Ad to 4\d lb; sheepskins, 2s to 3s 9d each : lambskins, 2s to 3s 5d each; pelts, lid to 2* each. Cattle; The demand for dairy cows at their profit has continued brisk, and stores have been in a little better request. There has also been I an upward tendency in the value of fat stock, j particularly top sorts. Nut few stores were yarded at Newmarket. There was a fair muster at Papakura on W ednesday. Dairy cows were well represented at both sales, and there was a fair muster of beef. Competition was keen tor dairy and fat beasts, and there was an adyance on the previous week's values of 10s. per bead on best animals. Dairy cows sold atfiom£4 10s to £8 12s 6rl. Some averages of fat steers were £4 17s Gd. £5 9s, £6 12s 6d, £5 15s, . f5 16s, £7; cows, £2 15s. £3 17b 6d. £4. £4 ss. ! Sheep The Newmarket pens were fairly tilled on Tuesday with fat sheep, and the stores yarded were purchased for slaughter. Wethers sold at from 10s to los 6d : ewes, 8s to 12s 9d ; mixed. 12s to 12s 9d ; lambs, 10s to 12s each. Figs in average supply, but prices were in favour of purchasers, ranging from 2d to 3d per lb per live weight. Mr AIjEX. Aitkex's Market Report for the weekending June Bth: There has been a good demand for all kinds of produce, consequently most supplies have been quitted. In the poultry department all pens were filled on Friday; grices were slightly easier. Pigs: Fifiy-thrce were entered, many too small and several inferior lots; for these, prices were low; choice lots sold at previous values. Potatoes are in good demand ; but few unsold. Values are firmer at late quotations. Onions are in active demand ; only second-class coming forward. Vegetables sold at good values. Grain of all kinds has sold freely at late quotations. Oats are wanted at improved values. Fresh butter in large supply, many second-class lots. Values are unchanged. Eggs have also sold readily at late quotations ; a good quantity received. Honey moves slowly. Several tons have come to hand from Waikato, but sellers ask more than buyers arc willing to give. In corned butter there is but little doing; some farmers are making it up ; this has the effect of checking an advance in either kind. Hams and bacon are coming in freely : that of good get-up sells at good prices, but roughly handled or poorly cut lots are out of demand. Fruit : The supply of apples has been considerably larger, and the recent damp weather has been the means of some lots arriving in poor condition. Pears m large supply, mostly in bad condition : those in good order sold well. T v iero is but little alteration in prices all round, but those at Tuesday's sale have been the highest. The following are the quotations : — Fowls, poor, Is to 1° Id ; good. The other day, a performing bear, whLe being led through the street, spied one of itR kind in front of a fur store, and at once made a dash for the animal. He reared on his hind legs, prepared to make an attack, when he suddenly realised that his brother beast was inanimate, and ambled off, dragging his attendant along.
