ANOTHER HORROR. Fatal Hurricane at Hongkong 10,000 PEOPLE KILLED. San Francisco, June 5.
A telegram received here lo - day states that a terrible hurricane has been experienced at Hongkong. The hurricane extended over a very Urge extent of territory, and caused calamities of an appalling desciiption. Ten thousand people were killed by the lavages of the storm, and immens damage was caused to property, [Hong Kong, the scene of tho lares honor, is an island and British Crown colony situated close to the raouth of the Canton River, and divided from the southern coast by a narrow strait, the Lyeemoon Pass. The total area is 32 square miles and the population 180,000. During the season of the monsoon the climate is very unhealthy. In 1841 Hong Kong came into British hands by enforced cession from the Chinese Government, and of late yearß its prosperity has advanced a niarvellouß degree.]
