THE CALLIOPE'S FSCAPE. London, June 4.
In the Hoube of Commons Mr William J, Corbett, member for Wicklovv East, asked the Government what honours and reward they intended confeiring on Captain Kane and the officers and crew of H.M.s. Calliope in addition to a cold official eulogium. He explained that there was a strong feeling in the House of Commons in favour of suitably acknowledging their gallant conduct. Lord George Hamilton, in reply, stated it was not the intention of the Admiralty to make any reward.
