Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co. : The recenr rainfall bus provirced increased motive power, and yesterday thirty stampers (an«{ concentrators conneoterl therewith), the Boss pan plant, eighteen l>ercffms, and thechlorodyfiinj* f urnace were all at work. The water jackets have been received back from Thames, where they were sent for some alterations, ami the work of completing the construction of tl)e Hmelting furnace will shortly be carried out. Mr Howell ds pushing on the work in connection with tho erection of the 20 head of new stampers, the mortar blocks are now in position, and the work will probably be completed within a month. The ore now being" crushed is being obtained- from the New Find portion of the Company's claiu\ below the old Smithy level, and is principally free-milling.. What fa known, as the north shoot of bnse ore in the New Find is also being treated, everything put through the stampers being concentrated. The Canadian tunnel to cut the reef in. the New Find ground is being pushed ahead. A prospecting drive is being put in the Canadian ground, south of the Hero. Several men are employed jiroßpecting north of tho suirniit of the main range towards the TuL tracing the mam reef northwards. This most important woik is being carried on with considerable difficulty owing to the great amount of undergrowth,, and depth of surface soil met with. This main leef it is thought will be found tojuactmn with the Champion (Tui) reef about , a mile noith from the summit of the dividing range. The result of this woik will be watched with very great into-iest, and have a- most impoitant bearing on future operations.
