The Flax Industry.
Conditions undee which tee right to cut AND BKMOTB aHE FIiAX GBOWING ON THE EOADS AIiOKG THE BANKS OF THE WAIHOU blveb, will bk geanted by the plako County Council.
1. The terra for which the right will be granted shall be one year, commencing on the date of agreement hereinafter referred to. 2. The purchaser shall have the sole right to cut and remove the fhix growing on the land hereinafter described. 3. The area over which the right shall extend is:--That piece or parcel of land forming the road running along the western bank of the Waihou river, commencing at the northern bound aiy of the Waiharakeke West Block, and thence following 1 the course of the river to the noithern bound aiy of the Piako County ; and all those pieces or parcels of land on the eastern side of the Waihou river, forming the road com niencing at the Wairere Falls, to Ihe eouthern boundary of the Waiharakeke East IS 1 p. 1 Block ; and from the northern boundary of the said block to the noi them boundary of the Shaftesbury township ; and from the southern boundary of the Thames High School Endowment to the northern boundary of the said Endowment. 4. The puichaser will be held responsible for any damage done to the river banks, either by himself or any person in his employ, or by any engine or machine used in the cutting or removal of the flax. 5. The right to cut anl remove the flax sha'l not be construed into a right to in any way ob^tiuct any person in the iree use of the road. 6. The purchaser shall pay the whole of the purchase money to the Piako County Council, at the time the agree- ' inent hereinafter referred to is signed by him. 7. The purchaser shall not sell or dispose of the right acquired by the said agreement to any person or Company ■without the consent in writing of the Council, under the hand of the Chairman or Clerk, having been first obtained. 8. The purchaser undertakes to sign an agreement containing the foregoing conditions immodiately upon the same being presented to him for signature. By Order, Chas. Tuck, County Clerk, Piako County.
