Waiorongomai School Committee * The iminl monthly meeting of the above took place in the schoolhouse last evening. There were present Messrs B.nßkett (chairman),. Beeson "(Secretary-), Baskivill, Graham, and Orr. Minnie* of the previous meeting were reail and confirmed. The head teacher reported number on roll foy month 97, average attendance, 67. T. With reference to some long forms that are required for the infant classes, the head teacher stated, that a? it was necessary in all cases when applying for school furniture, that application should be made on the proper printed forms, he had written for, and ex~ p'^c tod them in the course of a few days, when lie would at once make application for the necessary furniture ; also suggesting that n. mi p ply of firewood might bo procured for the use of the school. Resolved that three tons of firewood bo ordered. It wis also resolved that where the young trees had missed in the school ground, the Chairman be authorised to secute a variety of trees and •shrubs and have them planted, the sum expended not to exceed £\. Accounts to tha nmnunt of 15s were passed for payment. To Aroha S. and G.M. Co.: At the old tail'ng's plant, the roaster and pans are now in full swing, the pans were idle one dny owing to the want of quick silver. It appears that by some blunder of the railway authorities the silver wns taken on to Cambridge, and should have been delivered here a day earlier. The foundation for the new twenty head of stampers is well advanced. I understand that the boxes will be so arranged that the quartz can be crushed either wet or diy ; that is to sny, either method can be adopted as found desirable from time to time. Band of Hope : On Friday evening next (as announced by Mr Hnnt at the Church of England service on Sunday evening last), a meeting of the Wniorongomai Band of Hopr> members will be held in the Public Hall, the principal object being to vost the organ in trustees, the instrument being the property oF the Band of Hope. Old Accident Relief Fund : On account of many members of this fund being present nt the football dinner on Saturday evening last, it was decided to postpone the meeting until Saturday evening next, when it is to be hoped that some final decision may be arrived at concerning this much vexed qupslion. Wild Deer on the Gordon Settlement: On Sunday last a handsome specimen of this beautiful animal was observed oh the Gordon Special Settlement, When first seen he was qniotly browsing with a herd of cattle, but when approached quickly made off. It is to l»e hoped that the settlers will have the gcod sense not to destroy this solitary wanderer, he has probably detached himself from a herd i'l the Matamata district, where I have they are very numerous.
