Messrs Aitrucß and Bl'odies Weekly Repokt. — Since our last report nine sales by auction have been hold, the whole ha\ c been ■we>l attended. On baturday, sale of bui'dii'g to be renio\ed, held on the ground at the corner of Symonds and Alexandra -treets. There was a fair attendance, and good competition. On Monday sale 01 properties at the mail, a large number present. A cottage of four rooms, with an allotment 35 by 125 feet, sold at £183 cash. The Onehunga property was purchased by the mortgagee. o\ er £2,000 being due to him, A sale at Ihe residence of .Mr R. Gray, Grafton Road, of piano, household furniture, etc, passed oft very satisfactorily : a crowded attendance, good competition, first-class prices; the piano brought £50. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday hales were held for the disposal of poultry, produce, groceries, etc. The attendance was good at each, and the result satisfactory. On Wednesday, a sale of pianos, household furniture, etc.. at tne mart. Theie was a irood attendance, but bidding was rather languid; prices ruled in favour of the b\j>er. On Thursday a sa eof ] ousehoid furniture, under a bill 3 ' sale, on the premises, Hobson-street. The result was satisfactory. The sale of the balance ot a stock of tinware, ironmongery, etc., also drapery iind clothing, held at the mart, was well attended, and the stock sold w ell, but there was Jictie demand for drapery, etc. The breaking up ot the fine weather has interfered with the sales of Thursday and Friday. The supply of all kinds of Joeal produce, poult r>, etc., was very small Potatoes have come to hana from ihe South in quantities far beyond requiiements, and are offered at £4 per ion, sacks included. Many of the local giown are diseased, fine-looking sanmles. but hollow or dark inside ; these are difficult to get oft at low prices. Onions continue scarce. But little butter to lund ; there is a good demand. Local bacon, well got up, is much, wanted. Cheese of good sample moves off fairly well. The supply of iruit has dropped off considerably ; prices have mipro\ ed for good sound samples; souie growers have held back too long— their btult comes to hand in bad order. Poultry, in spue of the wet (and therefore but few present at the sale\ has brought a much better price, but few .owls sold under Is each. Turkeys biought a fair price, there were a good number entered. Ducks on the average brought a much better price ; no first-class birds entered. But few pigs entered, and the demand was limited. Properties . A houae and allotment, 50 by 190 feet, Ironting Mount Eden Road, hid been sold privately to Mr A. G. Pulleng for £330 cash. Mr Alexander Ait ki;n's Market Report for the week ending May 11 —A good amount of bus ness has been don t during the week, although Friday's sale was considerably affected by the bad weather. Fowls were in much smaller supply than usual, and prices wtre slightly better. Ducks were in short supply. Pigs : But few came to hand, but for these good prices were obtained. Potatoes have come to h»nd in smaller quantity , but stocks are still large; demand is easier, but values are unchanged. Onions are st 11 scarce, and commanding good prices. Vegetables were in short supply and sold well. Pumpkins remain at late quotations. Carrot 3 in slightly better demand. Oats move oft" fieely at late values. Fowl wheat in good demand, but milling lots are quiet, with slightly downward tendency. Maize unaltered Bran and sharps unchanged. Pieinelon's are at low values, but watermelons are scarce. 'Bacon and hams — supplies of local cure are on theincrease, and the demand is ttill good ; Southern lots are slow or &aie. Fresh butter: The supply has been the largest received for several weeks, and values have risen considerably. Eggs also are in good supply, and considerable rise in value. Corned uutter is coining to hand freely, but sales are not being pushed; local demand is for second-class only; prime quality is he'd for • xport orders. Cheese : Really good is in demand, but inferior hard to quit. Honey in fair demand. Ban- er-make is wanted for local consumption. In fruit, supplies ha\e no', been so large i" any kinds, except in Napoleon pea,rs, which were very plentiful; dessert peara^ have sold well. Dead rabbits in good supply ; satisfactory prices obtained. yarded in usual numbers; prices without alteration. • Useful active harness ranged from £6 to £9 ; and a choice riding horse brought £15 10s. At the hide and skin sale on 'I uesday, heavy sides bi ought from 4id to s\d the lb, or from 26$ to 31s 6d each ; cow hides. 2Jd to 3|d ; calfskins, 34d to 4id por lb ; bones, £4 10s the ton ; horns, 7s 6d the 100 ; tallow. Us 6d to 18s 6d the cwt; sheepskins, from 2s to 3s 3d each. At tho usual Waiukusalo there was a smaller muster of. slock than usual; prices were unchanged. At Romuora on Thursday, the dairj* cows offered were generally of interior quality ; prices without change. Fat cattle in lull number were iirm at la-t week's quotations. Prkes for steers tanged from 14s to 16s ; cows, 11s to 14s the 1001b ; sheep were also in demand, and advanced in price about 3d each; \\eUlcr3solri fiom 11s to 14s ; owes, 8s to 12s each; pigs abundant, those killablo were in demand at last week's values, but stores were relatively dull of salo.
