AN IMPORTANT PURCHASE.

I Australian farmers and others interested in country lands are now devoting much attention to New Zealand, and 'most satisfactory reports have been made by those who have visited this part of the colony in ' search of property. One very large property has just changed hands through the agency of Mr J. A. Connell, who reports having leased, on behalf of Mr W. Aitken, the Waitoa estate, 7,496 acres in extent, near Morrinsville, Waikato, to Mr John D. Adams, lately of St. Enoch's, near Ballarat, Victoria, at a rental of £600 per annum, with right to purchase at the end of two years, which right Mr Adams has the full intention of exercising. Mr Adams is a nativo of Victoria and a practical sheep farmer, who has been attracted to New Zealand by the many advantages which this colony affords to the practical grazier. Ho came hero with letters of introduction to Mr J. A. Connell, being in search of suitable property, and he has now returned to Victoria well satisfied with his bargain, for the purpose of winding up his attairs, and returning to Auckland with his family about the end of the year. Mr Adams was very mnch pleased with the land which he inspected here, and this is all the more pleasing to note because we understand there are a number of other wealthy men in Australia, who will be a good deal influenced by his report on the colony, and probably may take up other large areas for farming operations.
