The Chairman asked if any of the | members had seen tl»i j board since it was erected, as he had not been up' t > town himself. Mr Ilott saiil he had seen the board, which was not placed in so conspicuous a position as he had anticipated. One respecting the Okomire hot springs ha- 1 been placed to far greater advantage- for attracting attention and w.is more attractively got up in eveiy way. The matter was allowed to staii'i over tiil next monthly meeting. Monthly Statement : The following statement was laid on the table for four weel^s ending May 4th : To balance in

J?ei balance on May 4th, L 35 J2s 2d. Misconduct : The Chairman said tin caretaker had complained to him of th< nuisance occasioned by a number o yonng men who were in the habit of con gregatfng in the Octagon, smokiwg ant otherwise causing great annoyance U ladies and visitors generally. MrMcKee (felie caretaker) informed him hehad fre. qnently remonstrated with them- and requested them to desist,, bat thpy. otilj laughed at him, and still continue* l to bpj source of annnoyanee to persons visiting the drinking fountain erected at this place The Chairman also- mentioned the nMttpi of persons traversing the 'Domain will] guns-. He thought these matters shoul< be referred to the police to- take actioi against the parties so offend ing* The clauses in the Public- Btomainj Act bearing on the question of offence; was referred to, showing that very heavj penalties are- laid doTvn for breaches ol the by-laws, etc., or for shooting in Domains. Mr Lipsey remarked shooting within the Domain would be a very dangerous practice indeed and should be at onc< put a stop to. After considerable discussion' on th< matters respecting which complaint was made, it was agreed to leave fine matter in the hands of the Chairman,, who said he would see the police about it. Improvements- i Mr Ilott said now there was a balance in hand, some steps ought soon be taken for making No. 5 bath house available for use again. The Chairman said sufficient funds were not in hand at prefect to undertake this work. Also it had not yet been decided as to whether a larger bath than the old one should be constructed at No. 5 or not. Mr Ilott remarked that with respect to No. 6 bath-house, seeing part of the excavating for a reservoir was already done, and that the pipes, etc., hal been provided, it was highly desirable that the work of completing the reservoir, laying down the pipes to connect it with No. ( bath-house, so that the latter could 1« more frequency emptied should he com pleted with as little delay as possible, j»{ the work could not cost very much. Mj Ilott also sai I that it was desirable sonu similar provision should be made ii connection with No. 1 bath, so that \i could be emptied more frequently There was a spring at the rear of No. 1 known as No. 9 spring, that he thought could be utilised with advantage for this purpose, as at present, without any reservoir. No. 1 bath took a long tinu to refill after being cleansed. The ques tion of what planting should lie car'ieil out during thq present win 'er ought also to be considered and decided upon at an early date. Mr Ahier suggested that with reference to providing a reservoir for No. 1 bath, thata barrel be fixed at No. 9 spring with a pipe to the bath-house, so that it might be Been what flow of water couM be calculated on therefrom. .The question of carrying out the other improvements suggested were also discussed. The Chairman said it was important that the completion of the lawn extension be proceeded with as soon as possible, as at present the made ground was only growing weeds, and looked very bud. The caretaker's assistant (Stanley), had removed some of the small shrubsand plants that formerly grew under tho willows, etc., and had planted them round the upper embankment, the ap~ pearance of which ,had been greatly improved thereby. The lawn extension, however, badly required being laid down and looked after. The Chairman said he expected Mr Purchas, the Engineer to the Board, would be at Te Aroha very shortly, and they could then get an estimate with respect to the improving of Nos. 1, 5, and 6 baths, etc. Resolved on . the motion of Mr Ahier, seconded by Mr Ilott : That the Chairman be requested to take the necessary steps for utilising No. 9 spring in connection with No. 1 bath, and also have an estimate prepared for providing and connecting a reservoir with same ; for providing and connecting reservoir with No. 6 bath ; for restoration of No. 5 bath-bouse, and cost of constructing a larger bath in connection, with No. 5 ; and for completing and laying down the lawn extension. It was suggested to call a special meetng in a fortnight to consider these matters. Mr Ilott said Mr Wilson would probably be present at the next monthly meeting, and it would be well to have a full meeting of the Board, when all these> works were consideied. It was decided to let these matters | stand over until the ordinary monthly/ meeting. Domain Extension : Mr Lipsey re- 1 ferred to his having been deputed by the' j Board at their previous monthly meeting to interview Hon Mr Mitchelson, re the completion of the purchase of the forty acres for the Domain extension. Colonel Praser, however, had come to him and asked him what was. necessary to complets the purcha.se, etc , and told him he would talk the matter over with Mr Mitchelson, and as he (Colonel Fraser) seemed desirous that the purchase be completed with as little delay as possible, he (Mr Ljpsey) thought its best to leave the whole matter.-_with s Colonel Fraser to> arran :e. This was all the business
