KFGUIATJOXS. 3 11. Posting and Labelling. — In order that a pnicel may go by Parcel Po-t, it must bo handed in at a Post Office counter or deliverywindow, and the postage due piepaM. The words " Parcel Post " should be written 011 the parcel, or on the label to be obtained from the Post Office for affixing to the par- el.
jS"o parcel exceeding lllbs in weight, or the dimensions hereafter specified, will be accepted, ; and unpaid or insufficiently prepaid parcels will be refused.
For example : A parcel measuring 3ft 6in in length may mca9uie as much as 2ft Oin in giith. A shorter parcel may be thicker ; thus, if it measuie only 3ft in length, it may be 3ft in girth round its thickest part. The weights and dimensions given above apply only to paicels for places served by railway, coach, or ; steamboat. A. For Places not Sewed by Builway, Coach, or Steamer. — To all places not served by railway, coach, or steamer, only parcels not exceeding 51bs in weight, and not. measuring more than 2ft in length, and lft in bieadth or depth may be accepted, and provided they are not of such a fragile natme as to prevent their being sent with safety in the ordinary mail bag. 5. Must be Prepaid, — The full postage must be prepaid by ordinary postage stamps, which must be affixed by the sender or the person handintr in the parcel. 6. Not to be Posted in Posting-box. — Parcels exceeding lib in weight are not to be posted in the posting-box, but must be handed over the counter, or at the delivery- window of the Post Office, to the proper officer, by whom the size, weight, and postage will be checked before a parcel may be accepted Parcels posted in the posling-box, unless admissible and fully paid at letter rate will be charged on delivery with a fine of 6d.,»in addition to any deficient postage. This also applies to parcels posted in pillar aud other postingboxes. 7. Prohibited Parcels. — Parcels bearing, or containing writing or marls of an offensive or indecent character, or containing gunpowder, cartridges, lucifer matches, or anything explosive or liable to combustion, bladders con taining liquid, live animals, grossly offensive or filthy matter, or any substance likely to cause injury to other paicels or to the officers of the Post Office, aie prohibited. 8. What other Parcels may not contain, — parcels may not contain any letter or communication of the nature of a letter, money (coin or bunk notes), or a packet or parcel intended for delivery at an address other than that borne by the parcel itself, 12, Registered. — Parcels may be registered nndei the same conditions as letters ; and for »n additional fee of 2d a receipt can bo obtained and posted to the sender,
