Auckland, May 4.

Mkssrs Arthur and Buddles Weekly Repoirr.— This week has been a busy one in all departments. Eight sales by auction have been held. <'n Saturday a. sale of Island oranges was held at the mart ; they were very green and iv bad order, therefore .were sold at a low price. Tuesday and Thursday there was a sale at "Tho Carlton," Liverpool and Liwry-strcots, of American organ, piano, household furniture and ollects, bedding, cutlery, platcdwarc, glass, china, and earthenware. Tho house contained 24 rooms, thoy were all well furnished : on the first day of the sale over 500 lots were sold, the place was thronged with, eager buyers ; and a A"cry large number was present at tho second day. All sold at extremely good prices ; the organ brought £33; piano, &xC\ On Wednesday there whs a sale of household furniture at tho mart, the attendance was small, lidding very dull ; but little business done. On Thursday there was a sale at the mart of drapery, clothing, etc. ; the attendance was good ; a large quantity of sroods were sold at satisfactory prices. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, balos w<*re held at tho mart of poultry, produce, groceries, fruit, etc. There was a good attendance at each, and fair competition. Fruit has not conio to hand in such large quantities ; there is a decided improvement in the quality, and prices are upon the whole better. The shipment to Sydney did not arrive in good order ; to supply that market the cases must be of uniform size, as they sell at per case only. There has been a good supply of nroduce "generally. Many of the potatoes to hand have been ot an inferior quality ; there is a good demand for first class. Onions are in good demand ; not a large quantity to hand. Good butter, both fresh and corned, is wanted. Local-cured bacon and hams, well got up are inquired for. Cheeso is only moving off slowly. Poultry was entered in good number: most of the fowls were hens and young birds— the average prices this week arc much better than last, yetsome sold atlow prices. Ducks brought a better price. Turkeys— not many entered, price about the same. Pigs brought lair prices. Messrs Alfred Bucklaxd & Soxs' Weekly Report.— At the Haymarket, on Friday last, meadow hay brought from 2s to 3s 6d ; oaten sheaves, 3s to 43 3d; chaff, 5s 6d perewt; oats, from 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; cocksfoot seed, 2s 8d to 3s 6d the bushel. Horses were in full numbers, and at better value. The eleven unbroken horses from Motutapu ranged from £5 15s to £9 15s, averaging £7 los. Useful broken-in horses brought from £7 to £15 ; a uair of carriage horses, £36; buggies. £7 12s 6d, £11, and £36 15s respectively; and by private sale a farm- of 500 acres, in the Waiuku district, at £3 an acre. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, both hides and skins were in greater quantity than usual; prices were fully sustained. Ox hides brought from 3d to 5Jd; cow hides. 2d to 2id ; calfskins, 3d to 4d per lb : bones, 4s 6d; tallow, 13s to 18s cwt; pelts, 8d to Is sd; sheepskins. Is 5d to 3s 2d each ; wool, 5d to 7d lb. At the cattle sale held at Pukekohe on Monday more than the usual number of stock were yarded. Cows forward in calf were in demand at higher values ; other descriptions of cattle at late values. The farm section advertised was not sold ; £6 an acre was offered for it, and it was reserved at £9. At Kemuera on Thursday, dairy cattle near calving were in demand at fully last week's value, backward cows were at comparatively low values. Fat cattle in full supply, many of unusual weight werelower in price than last weke, from Is to 2s the 1001b. Prices ranged trom 12s for good cows to 15s for choice medium weight steers: light-weight and heavy oxen were not above 14s, and inferior cows 11s the 1001b. Sheep and lambs in short supply, advanced in price from Is to 2s each ; wethers brought from 11s to 14s ; ewes, 8s 6d to 12s ; lambs, 83 6d to 11s 6d ; pigs, abundant, well-bred porkers brought from 17s to 255 ; coarse pigs, from 9s to 18s each.
