LORD ONSLOW. Arrival of our New Governor. HIS RECEPTION.

Auckland, April 20. Tin; outgoing mail steamer Maiiposa, from Sydney, brought to our shores last evening our new Governor, His Excellency the Earl of Onslow, with the Countess of Onslow, and an enthusiastic reception was accorded khe new lepresentative ot Her Majesty the Queen in New Zealand. The Maripos a moored alongside the outer v. estern tee of the Queen-stieeti Wharf at eight o'clock last night,and,as might have been expected,! her c was great excitement among the very large crowd assembled on the wharf, who were kept back from the edge of the tee by a strong wooden barrier erected across the wharf some distance fiom its end, and alto by a large pobt>i of police under inspector Broham. The Mariposa was promptly boarded by Sir Frederick Whilaker, lcpiescnting the Government as Attorney-Gcneia!, and also theMa&onicfraternu.yusGranumasreroithat order, who welcomed the Earl and Countess to the colony. In company with Sir Frederick was Colonel Hume, Inspector of the New Zealand Volunteer iorcc?. Lord and Lady Onslow and the Governor's aide-de-camp, Capt. Saviile, entered the carriages waiting on the whait, and were driven up to the Grand Hotel, in Puneesstreet, and as the vehicles drove away bhe crowd raised loud and enthusiastic cheers. During their stay m Auckland the Governor and bis lady stay ac the Grand Hotel, as there are no servants at Govei nment Rou?e. The Mayor, Mr A. E. JDevore, waited upon the Earl at the hotel last evening and submitted for his approval tho piogramme for to-day's proceeding?, which His Excellency expressed himself satisfied with.
