ARRANGEMENTS FOR RECEPTION OF LORD ONSLOVV IN AUCKLAND.
AUCKLAND, Last Night. A meeting of the Reception Committee was held this afternoon to consider the arrangements in connection with the reception of the new Governor ; Mr Ilobb?, M.H R., telegraphed the Premier to-day as follows :—": — " Feeling in Auckland i* \ei;y poie >it refusal to have fie full Volunteer display on the occasion of the landing of Lord Onflow. Colonel Shepherd is obstinate, and Government nre blamed for his action in the matter. *' This evening's Star ? iy* if tin* choice be made by the Volunteers between the discharge of their duty as citizens, and their obedience to an arbitrary order, there should bo no hesitation in determining fiat the former, and not the latter, has the lnrire^t claim upon them. They can make their opinion* felt very effectually by causing the encunpment, and not the reception, to result in a fiasco .
