An entei tainmont and dunce, ptoccods in aid of the funds of Te Ainliu and Waiorongomai United Football Olubs, came off in the Te Aroba Public Hall on Monday evening last. The weather was fine, the attendance largo, and the whole affair passed off very satisfactorily, The following is a copy of the programme :—: — Overture, Te A rob a Brass Band ; song (comic), Mr 11. Newton ; song 1 , Whip poor Will, Miss M. Cocks ;song (comic), That's the way to the Zoo,' Master H. Tonge (encorod); son*?, The Land where T was Born, Mr G. Taylor ; song (comic), The Dure, Mr Geo. Devey (who responded to a well do erved encore); duet, Money Matters, Mr and Miss M. Cocks ; song-. The Jockey (in costume), Mr F. Arthur ; son?, Miss Ci^'sy Cocks; song*, When Birds and Blossoms Dream, Mr G, Tayloi; song (comic), Mr 11. Newton ; song, The Parcel's Post, Mr C Gardner song, The Dear Old Cradle, Mr J. F. Cocks ; dance, highland Fling 1 , Masters Fred and Harry Tonge (encored). Mis Mor.zie and Mhs Cissy Cocks accompanied the various* singers in an efficient manner. At the conclusion oL the concert the hall was speedily cleared for dancing, which was kept up with spirit for seveial bonrs, about fifty couples taking part. The music was provided by Messrs C. Everitt (piano); A, Everitt (cornet); and G. Tilselley (clarionet). It will be remembered an affiliation case was heard in the Resident Magistrates Court, Te Aroba, about Six months ago ; an information having been laid bj' Kobt. Mackie asrainst Jas. Clarke, Junv. (both of Te Aroba), for refusing to provide for the illegitimate child of his daughter. The case was beard before Mr Norlhcroft, R.M., who adjudged young Ola ike to bo the father ot'Mies Mackies child, and ordered him to pay 10s per week for its maintenance. The order not being complied with, and the sureties fixed by the E.M. for compliance with the order not being found ; yonng Claike Was committed to Mount Even gaol for n\x months with hard labour. The six months expired this week and Clarke released, but was immediately re-arrested for non compliance with the maintenance Older (on an information laid by Robt. Mackie), and was brought to Te Aroba in the custody of Constable OBrien yesterday. The prisoner will bo brought upbefoie MrJ. Ilott, J.P. to-day.
