Owing to' the fcourfcesy' of Mr Thompson, of McAr,bhur v&nd Co., we are enabled to give the' particulars of the" report supplied them by their Samoan agent as to the* hurricane that are of puolic interest. The rbporb in its main <letail& confirms vthe accounts given elsewhere in to-day's issue. The following items are however additional : — Early in the mtorning the Nipsic ran into ' the American man-of-war Lily, and cut into her- starboard bow and she sank in about five minutes. Poor Ormsby happened to be in her and' was frowned. Capt. Douglas manaered to swim to the Olga and. was savett. The Taf ua was washed " ' ashore ' together with her captain, but ho managed to reach the shore safely. The , T.afua is 1 damaged so much tha.t, she },will have to be sold. Such a' huri'ipane not been se'en 'in Samoa' , for 30 years. The seas that came" rolling into the harbour were terrible. The road ins many places has been washed away, also bridges and wharves/ "'Our boathouse has been completely washed away. The se^s came rolling into the boathouse, "ashing all the boats and 1 coal away. There is about 60 tons *leffc. We recovered three boats; all stove in ; they will require a good deal ' of repairs to put 1 them iri order again. There were about 1000 men from the wrecked ship ashore, of whom 400 are on our premises. We have received no communication from the out station, therefore do not know to what extent they have suffered by the hurricane. '
