[From our Own Correspondent.] Thames, Thursday. An organ recital took place in St. George's Church last evening, in aid of the funds of the Church, and passed off very successfully, There was a large attendance. The Borough Assessment Court occupied Mr Northcroffs attention the whole of Tuesday and yesterday, over 130 objections being dealt with. The Hon MrMitchelson, Native Minister, arrived here from Auckland on Tuevsday evening, and had a korero with the natives interested in the Pinko hlock, the title to which forma on» of the questions to be settled by the Land Court now sittins: at Shortland. The hlock contains 250.000 acres, and Government h.ive expended thereon in payments to the natives and for suiveys about £18,000. As the result of the meeting it is likely that the whole matter will be satisfactorily settled at another meeting to be held on the 9th of next month, to attend which Mr Mitchelson will then return to the Thames. lie left for Auckland yesterday afternoon. Saxon G. M. Co. have crushed 175 loacK of quartz during the past week for 4210z5. There are also 201bs of picked stone on hand. Cleaning up will take place on Satin- lay. Good progress is being made with the erection of the Onslow Gold Saving Co's plant in the Herald Battery.

Thames, Friday. The Rev F. (t. Evans, incumbent of St. Oeorge's Episcopalian Church, leaves for Te Aroh'iin a day or two on a six week's holidfjy. During his absence, the pulpit at St. Georges' will be occupied by the Rev Dr Hooper, who recently nrrivrd here from Kunachee, India. I understand that the Rev Mr Evans will take the services at St. Marks dm ing his stay at Te Aroha. The Big Pump was at a standstill yesterdny. to allow of the new boiler recently added to the plant to beconnected. Pumping operations, however, were resumed List night. At the Warden's Court yesterday, the application of Mr Chas. F.irmer, for a residence site at Uhinemuri was adjourned until the 18th April, to allow the Mining Inspector to report thereon. Cambria: Another leader six inches in thickness, was yesterday cut in the crosscut at No. 4 level, but no gold has yet been seen in the quartz. Colours of gold are freel}' seen in the leaders in the winze being sunk to meet the crosscut.
