THE NATIVE MINISTER. Thames, March 27.
The Hon. Mr Michelson is at. present here on business connected with native affairs, principally in relation to a Piako block. Hon. Mr Mitcheleon last evening held a lengthy korero with natives interested in the Piako block, upon which the Government has advanced about £18,000. The result was very satisfactory, and the Minister expects that at another meeting, to be held on the 9th prox., the matter will be satisfactorily settled. MrMilchelson returns to Auckland this afternoon, returning: here on 9th prox., when ha will stay four days and personally inspect the railway here as far as Paeroa. He will also decide then whether the probable receipts will justify the further prosecution of the work.
