The races are taking place to-day. In the absence of Mr D.iver, Mr Giindley acted as starter, and is giving general satiofaction. Heavy rain is falling. Owing to Monday being kept as a holiday, the attendance was very limited.
HURDLES. Torrent l Wnitangi ... ... ... ... 2 Trapper 3 Torrent and Trapper had the call in the betting. At the first of the hurdles Civi* fell, and the rider remounted but had no say in the race afterwards. Torrent maintained his lead throughout, and, though once seriously challenged by Tenakoe, he won with a good bit in hand by a couple of lengths, Waitangi beating Trapper in the lun home. Time, 3min ssec Dividend, £2 2s and £2 4s.

A capital stare saw Moss Rose dart oli with a strong lead which was maintained for three-quarters of a mile, Sb. James and Cook tying side by bide three leneths away.
