ACCIDENTS.

We regret to have to record a aeries of accidents which have occurred in Te Arolm during the past week or two :—: — Mr Dowries met with a sprions accident about a fortnight ago, but only within the past few day's have any grave symptoms appeared. It seems Mr Downes was comingdown stairs in his slippers one morning about the time mentioned, and slipped at the top, and being unable to regain Iris footing fell with greit force to the bottom. No attention was paid to the accident at the time, but Juriug the past few days Mr Downes has been compelled to take to his bed, and rapidly grew worse, so much so, that on Friday night last it became necessary for Dr Cooper to remain with him all night. We are pleased to be able to state that Mr Downes is a little better, and we hope soon to see him about again.

On Monday 18th inst., Mr James Howe, butcher, of Te Aroha, met with a very serious accident Mr Rowe, it seems, was riding homo, and the night being very dark the horse stumbled and fell, throwing Mr Rowe rather heavily on some ti-tree stumps, breaking a rib and forcing the bone in until it touched his lung. On enquiry we find that Mr Rowe is gradually getting better, and we hope soon to be able to report that he has quite recovered. Mr Ttowe's son was also thrown out of his bu:?gy on the morning following his fathei's accident, the wheel passing over his leg and grazing his chin, but with the exception of a few bruises he was otherwise uninjured, and is now able to go to school again.
