This was at Kerapuna, and tho murderers had been secured when the schooner left, but were not tried. Reports had come in from a place called St. Joseph that alluvial gold had been discovered there, bub the finders had to give up in consequence of sickness from fever. Outrages by natives are becoming less frequent ab New Guinea ' since Dr. Macgregor assumed conti'ol of aflairb there. She was 80 days under sail up to February 10 lust, and had travelled 6,567 miles in a direct course, and had carried about 64 passengers from place to place in that time Two new missionaries, Mr Dauncey and Mr Walker, young men, arrived from Home lately, and were taken to Port Moresby in the Harrier. This makes seven white missionaries ab present bherc, besides native teachers. Of the latter it is intended to transfer some from the South Sea Islands shortly. While the Harrier is here she will be re-metalled, and have some additions made to'th commodation for carrying teachers.
