Lord Salisbury, in the coutse of a speech at Watford, in England, said ihe Government intended to restore order in Ireland. They also proposed to enlarge the scope of Loid Ashbourne's Act, and grant measures for local self-govein-nient, and iheieby they expected to squelch Home Rule. He complained that their opponents had resorted to a cataract of falsehood to obtain their ends. The Government, he sai«^, intended to largely increase the facilities lor the occupation of land in Ireland by small owners when order is restored. It would, he declared, only be by want of confidence, and not by the result of elections, that the Government would be induced to dissolve.
