The Hon. Mr Fisher. Minister of Education, who arrived from tho South yesterday, is staying at the Northern Club. The object ot his visit is to consult Sir Frederick TVhitaker, Attorney-General, tipon several matters of importance. Mr Fisher intended to favour us with a two-days' visit, but, owing to numerous pressing- invitations to busine&s and pleasure, he has decided to remain in Auckland several days longer. He will probably proceed to Wellington direct by a steamer leaving the Manukau at the beginning of next week. Mr Fisher proposes to come North again, a few weeks hence, to visit the East Coast native schools, in compliance with a promise made during last session of Parliament that the Government would inquire into the native schools 3ystem. The Hon. Mr Mitchelson, Native Minister was indisposed to-day, and did not transact any public business. He has consented to receive a deputation from the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to-morrow, at 10 a.m., and at 3 p.m. he will proceed to the Thames, accompanied by Mr T. VV. Lewis, Under - Secretary for Native Affairs. The object of this visit is to confer with certain natives with reference to the Piako Block. Mr Mitchelson and Mr Lewis will remain at the Thames for a day or two, and will return to Auckland in time to be present at the great native meeting to be held at Orakei on Monday next.
