Of this amount the Bank of Fiance is willing to advance half, if the balance is subscribed outside. Altogether 36,000,000 fiancs have been provided, and shares in the Comptoir have closed at 220 francs.
Paris, March 19. Rothschilds and the Credit Fonder have offered five million francs to help the Comptoir d'Escomple. Shares in the Comptoir d'Escompte are now quoted at 160 francs.. It is believed the Bank will go into liquidation, and that it will be reorganised under the title of the Comptoir National. The Comrtoir d'Escomple is repudiating the bills of the copper syndicate, which it had guaranteed. At the Antwerp wool sales, 10,000 bales are catalogued, including 700 from Australia.

Melbourne, March 18. William Harrison, sentenced to death for the muider of John Duggan at Jilsmoro, near Bundigo, in Juno last, was executed this morning at Sandhurst Gaol. The condemned protebted his innocence to the last. Replying to Way Lee, merchant, of this ciiy, the Chinese Ambassador in London says it has been decided that a confeience between England and China will be held shortly to consider me emigration question. He lequests Way Lee to petition New South Wales and Queensland to remove the border tax, and if his efforts are fi unless urgent appeals will be made to England. China objects to her subj&Si^JiSJng taxed at all. Harrison, who was executed yesterday for the murder of John Duggan at Elsmore, near Bendigo, in June last, stated in his dying confession that Coidine, who was executed four years ago for a murder at Demliquin, was innocent. He revealed nothing more. Wheat is quiet at 5s iod, and Adelaide wheat is veiy firm at 5s 3d. Sellers ask 3d more.
Sydney, March 19. Owing to the advances of Victoria and >South Australian -wheat markets, business in these colonies has practically closed. New Zealand wheat ranges from 4s 9d to 5s 2d. Supplies of vegetables are falling off, and prices are rising. In the couise of an interview with a newspaper coi respondent yesterday, Mr Xtoundiiig, the representative of the Canadian Pacific Jiailway Company, said he considered an extension of the present San Francisco mail service contiact for one year to alloAv of consideration of the Canadian proposals was not necessary. The Canadian Company, he said, if their proposals were enteitained would have veiy little difficulty in obtaining suitable vessels. They were now having three 5,000ton steamships built, and these would be finished in October of the present year.
Brisbane, March 19. The schooner Northern Belle, which was wiecked at Banks Group, struck with terrific force, and foundered immediately afterwards. The scene was one of wild confusion. The natives looted the suivivors, who were only rescued with difficulty.
EToBxVRT, March 20. The direct steamer Aorangi, from London to New Zealand, has arrived here. She has on board 25 Australian and 85 Now Zealand passengers. She continues her voyage to-day.
