N.Z. MEDICAL CONGRESS. HOSPITAL CHARGES FOR ADVICE AND MEDICINE. COMPULSORY VACCINATION RECOMMENDED. Christchurch, March 18.
The New Zealand Medical Congress has decided that hospital charges for advice and medicine are demoralising to the profession, and should not be allowed to remain in force. It was decided that representation should be made to local authorities in each centre as to the necessity for the profession being represented on the respective hospital staffs, either in the person of the Chairman of medical staff or some representative thereof. The Congress unanimously decided that in the interest of the community at large it was necessary that the Contagious Disease Act should be brought, into force without delay. On the question of vaccination it was suggested that inoie than one calf lymph station should be established in the colony, but by the majority it was thought that one central station was sufficient at present.
