SPORTING NEWS. HENDERSONS MILL RACES. Auckland, March 18.
Tjie annual race meeting in connection with the Hendersons JM ill Turf Club took place on Saturday. Although the weather was dull and threatening in the early pait of the morning, this "clici not spoil the attendance, which numbered at least 1,000. The racing was one series of surprises, favourite after favourite being bowled over, consequently large totalisator dividends were the order of the day. There was a lot of dissatisfaction expressed at the running in one race during the day, and we think the stewards tailed in their duty in not taking some notice of the matter, if only to clear those concerned from the alleged imputations. Mr John Kirkwood occupied the judge's box, and he gave the gieatest satisfaction, his verdicts being given veiy promptly, while Mr J. Archibald was successful in dismissing the fields on even terms. The secretarial duties were well carried out by Mr R. W. \Yynyard, and there was no causo for complaint at the way Messis Adams and Andrews worked the totalizators. Impey's band discoursed some choice selections in their best style. Appended ar? details of the racing.
