LIBERAL VICTORY. London, March 16.

An election took place to-day for the Kennington seat, rendered vacant by Mr R. Oenfc-Davis, who, having applied for the Chiltern Hundreds, eloped with a lady on March 4th, leaving his wife behind him. Mr Mark H. Beaufoy, a Gladstone Liberal, who was defeated at the last general election, was elected for the seat, defeating Mr Beresford Hope, a Tory, by 630.
