TOWN BOARD.

Thk ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Town Board was h aid on Wednes day evening last. Present : Corns Gallagher (chairman), Ebert, Heathcote, and Mills. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence : From Treasury De* partnient, stating that the amount of £old revenue acciuing for the p.onth ending December 31st, 1888, was 6-*, and for January, 1889, £2 9s, which had been placed lo the credit of the Board in the Bank of New Zealand. Received. From Property Tax Commissioner, forwarding statement of Real Values for three years, commencing Ist April, 1889, and asking the Board to acknowledge same. Fiom Cha«, Tuck, County C ] erk, asking if Property Tax Commissioner had forwaided statement of Real Values, and requesting a reply, The Chairman was a^ked to reply to Mi Tuck, notifying him that the statement had been received. From Mary Jane Stanley, asking that her name be pl.ic^d on the Roll as holder of Section No. 9, Block 35. Application adjourned till next monthlymeeting. The Pcundkeener'.s repot t was read, accompanied by 2^ s^d commission up to Febiuary 28th. Received. The Chairman said several people had complained to him tint some shafts had been sunk at the back of Mr A Russell 'b place. A question arose as to whether the shafts were sunk on the line of road, or on private property, as if on the latter the Board were not responsible, The matter however, dropped .vithout further discus-* sion. The Clerk asked for instructions what to do in reference to those persons against whom judgments had been obtained, and he was authorised to take out judgment summonses. He was also instructed to take proceedings against all defaulters at once. The Clerk stated the overdraft had been reduced to £10 17s lid ; while the amount of rates still outstanding amounted to about £20. On the motion of Com Mills, seconded by Com Heathcote, It was resolved to adjourn the meeting until Wednesday, March 27th, for the purpose of considering the btatement of Real Values, etc. The meeting then adjourned.
