This i« all that, the Clmstless sinner can beat*. He may be decked with all the outward forms ot religion, but he cannot bear a single cluster of fruii such as God can own and accept. His forms of prayer and chants of song, with ail the routine of fa«ts and feasts, are " nothing but leaves" in the &ight of God. His nature is corrupt, and a corrupt tree cannot bring forth good h nit The leaves may hHe his real condition, and cover his i-hame from his fellow-mortuls ; but how quirky will they " wither away " before the Searcher of hearts when He brings the secrets of men to the light of His judgment throne. How many will Hud in that great day that all their boasted profession was but an empty and fruitless foi m — " leaves only."
