THE DANGERS OF MATERIALISATION. Sydney, March 9.

Papers have been laid on the table cf Parliament in connection with the case of Mr Walker, a member for Northumberland, against whom a verdict of murder was recorded thirteen years ago by a coroner's jury. In accordance with instructions from Mr Parkes in 1887, the police have inquired into the case, It appears that Mr Walker attempted to spiritualise, and it is alege d that a friend named Saunders had a private seance when some phosphorus ignited, and Saunders sustained severe injuries, from which he died. Walker absconded and a verdict of murder was returned. The Canadian Government replied that owing to the lapse of time and the death of witnesses and the coroner they would not be justified in granting extradition. Further, it does not appear whether the facts proved at the inquest were sufficient to establish the case. Mr Walker states that the matter has been raked up to ruin his political life. The affair was an accident due to experimenting with phosphorus. The jury disagreed. He, never evaded justice and informed theCanadian police of his whereabouts.
