LATER PARTICULARS.

At nine o'clock tho fire had practically gone out. The damage is very great. On the eastern side, the firo destroyed Mr Ward's, chemist, Riiey, tailor, and a large empty store, formerly occupied by Mr Keesing. The wind being westward the following buildings caught one after another, until the whole were destroyed : — An empty store belonging to Mrs Wiley ; Sargeant, jeweller ; ICincaid's two shops ; (Jolder's shop ; seed store occupied by Mr Neal ; Mr Bond, printer ; Pierce, fruiterer ; McNeish, billiard saloon ; Cox, shoemaker ; an empty store, the property of Nipley ; George Neal's large store ; Ruge, hairdresser ; horse bazaar, lately occupied by Buckland. A few of the buildings were insured. Most of the stock and furnituie were saved, but much of it is damagod.

THE INSURANCES. Owing to the fact that the Insurance Offices were closed thi* afternoon, it was impossible to obtain a complete list of insurances. Wo are however, informed that the New Zealand Insurance Company's losa cannob b© more than £400, and may be much less than that amount. The Norwich Union have £200 on Bond's printing office, and £50 on a property 42 yards distant from it. The Victoria have £300 on Sergeant's jewellery establishment.
