A Wonderful Langshan.
I wrote you on the 18bh August last concerning a " rare layer," a Langshan pullet. The numbor of eggs she laid to that date from May 7th, was 87 in 104 days. Seeing she was doing so well I thought 1 would wait till she left off, which she ultimatley did on the 21st December, after laying 183 eggs, without a break. Did you ever know or hear of a pullet that excelled her? I gave her china eggs, and she sat on them for nearly a month. I then broke her up, fed her well, and now she is hard at ib again. There is a disease amonsrst poultry in this district (chiefly last year's pullets), and no one so far has found a remedy, or yet given ib a name. The symptoms are : — They first show a lameness, mope about, eat very little, gradually eat less, and eventually die ; the liver, on being examined, is twice its natural size, and the whole inside is a mass of putrefaction. Can you or any of the readers of the journal suggest a remedy ? — Gkegor Grant. Courtenay, Canterbury, February 12.
