TE KOOTI IN COURT.

Te Kooti said in Court that he would never kill anyone again. The Star special reporter at Opotiki telegraphs : The inhabitants "were out en masse to see the captive being marched in. The inhabitants of the Bay of Plenty are in dread of him when he is about. He was asked to return to Waiknto hut refused. He believed he would disturb the peace unless restrained. He is followed by several well- known load characters. Connelly, an old Opotiki resident, supported the Inspector's statements as to the number of followers, and the fear felt in the district. No sureties beinij forthcoming for Te Root's good behavour, he is committed to Mount Eden gaol. Naval contingent return to Auckland with Te Kooti, and the police escort immediately. The Permanent Artillery force will remain in Opotiki until the natives have dispersed, and things are quiet again.
