NATIVES UNDER ARREST. TE KOOTI'S FLIGHT. Wellington , Feb. 28.
The whole military force left Opotiki ab six this morning for the pa, six miles out, where Te Kooti was ye&beroay. On arrival of bhe foice, 200 natives weie found on the road mounted awaiting them. Major Poiter i ode forward and was bold that Te Kooti had lei t during the night, by an inland brack for bhe Waikabo country. The natives were put under temporary arrest, bub they say they are returning to their home?. The troops marched back to town, and Major Porte" 13 wiring to the- Premier for insbiucbions. Ifc will nob be possible to follow Te Kooti on the track he habgone by, but the troops may be oideied to the WaiUato.
